Python SDK for building AI applications on Microsoft Azure Foundry. Wraps agent creation, thread management, evaluations, connections, deployments, datasets, and indexes under a single `AIProjectClient`. Also provides an OpenAI-compatible client for projects that use standard OpenAI API patterns.
Gives you a single authenticated client to manage the full lifecycle of Foundry-hosted agents, including versioning and evaluation, without juggling separate SDKs for each Azure service.
When to use it
- Creating versioned agents with PromptAgentDefinition for production deployments
- Running fluency and task-adherence evaluations against agent outputs
- Listing and connecting to Azure AI Search or Bing Grounding resources from a Foundry project
- Managing datasets and indexes tied to a specific Azure AI project
- Attaching memory stores to agents for persistent conversation context
