What This Skill Does
Rules for writing code that coding agents (and humans) can find and understand through plain-text search. Grounded in measurement on a ~700k-line monorepo: agents navigate by grep, not AST or language server, so every identifier is a search query and every search miss costs wasted reads. Covers naming, branded types, doc comments, whole string literals, and file organization.
Coding agents have no hover text, no jump-to-definition, and no memory between sessions, so unsearchable names silently burn context on wasted reads; these rules make code resolvable in one search instead of five.
When to use it
- Naming exported functions so a single grep lands on the definition
- Branding primitive IDs so swapped arguments become compile errors
- Writing doc comments that match natural-language searches like "rate limit"
- Keeping event names and error codes as whole, searchable string literals
- Reviewing a diff against the pre-commit discoverability checklist
