Java SDK for Azure Key Vault's secrets API. Handles storing, retrieving, updating, and deleting secrets like passwords, API keys, and connection strings in Azure-managed vaults. Supports versioning, soft delete, expiration policies, and async operations.
Instead of managing secret storage, access control, and versioning yourself, Key Vault handles all of it with Azure RBAC and audit logging built in.
When to use it
- Retrieving database connection strings at app startup instead of hardcoding them in config files
- Rotating API keys by disabling old secret versions and setting new ones without downtime
- Loading multiple secrets in bulk during service initialization
- Setting expiration dates on short-lived credentials so they stop being retrievable after a deadline
- Backing up all secret versions from one vault and restoring them to another
