Azure AI Search SDK for Python. Provides clients for full-text search, vector search, hybrid search, and semantic ranking against Azure AI Search indexes. Covers index management, document operations, indexers, and AI skillsets.
Writing raw REST calls against the Azure AI Search API requires handling auth, batching, retry logic, and model serialization manually — this SDK wraps all of that with typed clients and built-in buffered senders.
When to use it
- Querying a search index with combined keyword and vector similarity scoring
- Building autocomplete and type-ahead suggestions over a product catalog
- Indexing Azure Blob Storage documents with entity recognition skillsets
- Running semantic ranking on natural language questions against a knowledge base
