What This Skill Does
Implements caching strategies for Flutter apps, covering offline-first data sync, local persistence with SQLite and Hive, image and scroll caching, and FlutterEngine pre-warming on Android. It walks through repository patterns that serve local data first, then sync with remote APIs in the background.
Gives you concrete patterns for each caching layer in Flutter instead of piecing together scattered docs for sqflite, cached_network_image, state restoration, and engine pre-warming separately.
When to use it
- Adding offline support to a Flutter app that fetches data from a REST API
- Caching network images in a scrollable product listing screen
- Pre-warming the FlutterEngine in an existing Android app to avoid blank screen flashes
- Setting up background sync for locally queued writes when the device comes back online
- Storing user preferences and session state across app restarts with shared_preferences
