What This Skill Does
@expo/ui/swift-ui lets you use native SwiftUI views and modifiers directly in a React Native app. The API mirrors SwiftUI's own API, so existing SwiftUI knowledge transfers. Components import from @expo/ui/swift-ui and every tree must be wrapped in a Host component.
Instead of building a separate native module for each SwiftUI component, you get direct JSX access to the full SwiftUI view hierarchy without leaving your React Native codebase.
When to use it
- Rendering a SwiftUI List inside a React Native screen
- Wrapping React Native Pressable components inside a SwiftUI VStack with RNHostView
- Applying SwiftUI modifiers like padding or foregroundColor to native views
- Mixing SwiftUI layout containers with existing React Native UI
- Extending the component set with a local Expo module when a required SwiftUI view is missing
